Corona Thermometer/Urgentie meter (Ministry of Health)

Corona Thermometer / Urgency Meter
On September 16, 2022, the Corona Thermometer was published. It indicates the impact of the coronavirus on society and healthcare. The thermometer is based on the epidemiological situation and its interpretation by the RIVM (National Institute for Public Health and the Environment).

During the coronavirus pandemic, the question arose: how can the government best keep society informed and clearly justify the need for measures? The use of real-time data and a simple visual representation should be sufficient. The coronavirus pandemic lasted a long time, and public support began to wane. Nevertheless, ICU beds were still full, and many people fell ill. It was essential to provide the public with an indication of the necessity.

*This indicator has had different names. During the time I worked on it, its working name was "the urgency meter" (corona thermometer).
The urgency meter would be placed on the landing page of mijnvraagovercorona.nl. The idea behind the website was to become a central hub for citizens, where they could find all the information about testing, isolation, vaccination, and regulations.
The concept of how the urgency meter/corona thermometer would be used on MVOC was accompanied by a quick-navigation function. The goal was to ensure that visitors, upon arriving at MVOC, could instantly see the relevant topic for them within the hero/header of the website. This included:

- The urgency meter with relevant information
- Quick navigation between the "main" topics relevant to you
- A Call to Action (CTA) regarding vaccination status
- General search
Below, you can view the concept designs and prototypes that I have been working on.
